GANTARITV.COM, BEKASI – PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) has confirmed that the death toll from the tragic train collision at East Bekasi Station has risen to 14 as of Tuesday morning, April 28, 2026. KAI’s President Director, Bobby Rasyidin, stated that all deceased victims have been transported to the Kramat Jati Police Hospital for formal identification. In a show of full accountability, KAI guaranteed that all medical expenses for the injured and funeral costs for the deceased will be fully covered by the company’s insurance.
In addition to the fatalities, the latest data reveals that 84 passengers sustained injuries and are currently receiving intensive medical care across various hospitals in the Bekasi area, including RSUD Bekasi, Primaya Hospital, and Siloam East Bekasi. Deputy Minister of Transportation Suntana emphasized that the Ministry is working closely with KAI and Basarnas to ensure that every victim receives optimal treatment. Periodic updates are being provided to the public to maintain transparency throughout the ongoing post-accident handling process.
To support the families of those affected, KAI has established an Emergency Response and Information Center at East Bekasi Station. This post serves as a central hub for families to verify the condition of their loved ones and obtain official information. For those unable to visit the station in person, KAI has activated its 121 Contact Center, urging the public to rely only on official channels to avoid misinformation during this sensitive time.
KAI has also implemented a “lost and found” service at the site to secure and manage passengers’ personal belongings found in the wreckage. This process is being conducted in close coordination with the police to assist in the identification of victims and the return of property to the rightful owners. This administrative effort is part of the comprehensive recovery plan to stabilize the situation following the Monday night disaster.
Regarding rail operations, East Bekasi Station remains temporarily closed for passenger boarding and disembarking. Commuter Line (KRL) services are currently restricted, with Bekasi Station serving as the final stop for most trips, though some downstream tracks have begun limited operations. Vice President of Corporate Communication, Anne Purba, expressed deepest condolences to the grieving families, reaffirming that KAI’s primary focus remains on providing the best possible care for the victims and restoring safe operational standards.
